On Thursday, May 10, Monroe County RACES provided communications support for a Homeland Security drill simulating a boat interdiction event on Lake Ontario. The event involved the Coast Guard, RCMP, State Police, US Customs and Border Patrol, and the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management.

Monroe County RACES deployed radio operators on boats, equipped with Automatic Position Reporting System (APRS) trackers, which allowed the boats to be tracked as they moved across Lake Ontario. RACES operators also provided Amateur Televion (ATV) feed from the boats to the shoreline.
